Sung Ook Choi has built a solid reputation in the Korean music industry by leading Peakpoint Music & Publishing, which has managed the master rights of Korea’s top 100 albums since 2014, and Merrygoround, a company that generated added value by acquiring, managing, and remaking copyrights from well-known Korean composers.

Jonathan Lee has been deeply involved in various sectors of the music industry throughout his career—including records, live performances, and content development—building a powerful and diverse professional network along the way.

David Kim is a renowned composer who has produced numerous hit songs across the Korean and Japanese music markets over the past 20 years. Since 2011, he has been the founder and leader of ICONIC SOUNDS, actively managing and nurturing talented songwriters while publishing many commercial successes.

Together, the three founders bring a wealth of experience and strong industry networks, enabling them to identify and nurture promising composers across the U.S. and Europe. By establishing local offices in New York and Paris, they collaborate closely with regional talent to develop high-quality music. Once produced, the music is commercialized through leading K-POP production companies in Korea, while KOSMIC SOUNDS provides end-to-end management of the resulting intellectual property.

Consequently, they often relinquish a portion of their copyright share, while A&R managers or sub-publishers oversee the pitching process for their works within the K-POP industry.

3. International publishing companies typically deduct significant fees before royalties reach Korea, leading to substantial revenue loss for global producers and composers.

4. Non-Korean songwriters cannot register directly with the Korea Music Copyright Association (KOMCA)and must depend on local sub-publishers, who often charge high commissions and reduce overseas revenue.

5. There is currently no publishing entity solely dedicated to representing foreign composers in Korea, making it difficult for international creators to access fair, transparent, and professional representation.

6. As K-POP continues to expand globally, with artists aiming for charts like Billboard and the UK Top 40, there is an increasing demand for collaboration with top-tier international songwriters and producers. However, structural limitations in the current publishing system hinder this potential.
